CSS Scam Warning: Fake Portals, Fees, and Fast-Track Fraud
Protect your CNIC: fake CSS portals, 'registration fee' fraud, and fast-track scams targeting electricity consumers.
A free government program is prime bait for scammers. Here’s what to watch for.
The ‘fee’ scam
Registration at css.pitc.com.pk is completely free. Anyone asking for a registration fee — by call, SMS, WhatsApp, or at a “service center” — is a fraudster. PITC never charges.
The ‘fast-track’ scam
Calls or messages offering to “fast-track” your CSS registration for a fee are scams. There is no fast track; verification is automatic via OTP. Report these to your DISCO’s complaint cell.
Fake portals
Copycat sites mimic the official portal to harvest CNICs and mobile numbers. Always type css.pitc.com.pk yourself or scan the QR on your genuine bill — never follow registration links from random messages.
The rule
PITC never asks for money and never asks for your details by phone or SMS. When in doubt, start from your paper bill, not from a link.
How to register safely: eligibility and registration.
